Our website
was created in 2001. The main reason for its creation was the willingness to
make an information and didactic center that would be generally accessible on
the Internet. The website is being built by students supervised by the
information technology teacher. In the beginning, the website was made in HTML
but now it is made in PHP technology in connection with the database system SQL.
The web is a
basic source of information about the school, it contains some information about
the students, teachers, graduates and the managerial stuff. It gives a lot of
useful information for candidates to the school. A lot of attention is paid to
the tradition of the high school, information about the coming 100th anniversary
celebrations, full list of all graduates, details about the school patron
Nicolaus Copernicus
www.mateo.lo-zywiec.pl/koper, an outstanding Polish astronomer. Looking
through the gallery of photographs
www.lo-zywiec.pl/fotoreportaze.php one can be familiar with the school
premises, teachers and important school events.
The students
can learn the school's mission by reading its statutes and browse the
information of the School Information Centre
biblioteka.lo-zywiec.pl which is
located in the school library. Students may use the guest book where
they can express their opinion about life of the school and problems concerning
it. In connection with the integration within the EU structures our portal also
takes up initiatives concerning the accession. We took part in 'Youth in Action' and 'Comenius' program and as a result we are starting cooperation with many
schools in Europe. The people visiting our website can learn about the data
related to different geographical regions of Europe, their traditions and
culture, visit the websites of befriended schools and see the gallery of photos.
We have close contacts with a schools from Ireland (see 'green pages'), Sweden, Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Hungary and Turkey
(see comenius.lo-zywiec.pl)
In our portal we present the achievement of our students, the
finalist of subject competition, Olympics and their papers
www.lo-zywiec.pl/osiagniecia.php. We pay particular attention to the
frequent updating of our website by placing the news and photo reports from
different scool celebrations and events. The big popularity has the service of
'Errata' youth magazine www.zywiec.org.pl
with which many of our students cooperate as well as the School European Club
'Copernicus' propagating the idea of the European countries
integration. The school website is a place where students and teachers can share
their knowledge and experience with each other, place their own didactic
materials helpful in the teaching and learning processes, for ex.
www.juliusz.lo-zywiec.pl.
The
philosophical, historical, chemical, physical, computer science clubs exist in
the school and are placed on the website. For obvious reasons information
technology has its special position, the students may use didactic materials and
their own software and check their abilities (see 'mat-inf board,
www.juliusz.lo-zywiec.pl/mat-inf). Our school is equipped with over 50
computers, the access to the Internet is provided by the school Linux server. We
use a wide band stable connection. Our students, teachers and administration
employees use e-mail, www, ftp accounts and other network services. The website
is constantly being developed and attracts a lot of interest in local and
international community which is proved by the statistics of the server. The
website helps widen the didactic offer of the school and develop interpersonal
contacts. Working on the shape of the website gives a lot of satisfaction both
to the students and teachers.
